Tl;dr: Ahead of the Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect on the work needed to decolonize our systems.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion and decolonization are not the same.

Decolonization calls us in to question systems, to rethink and to explore pluralistic knowledge and worldviews.

In the finance ecosystem, this means investigating how communities were integrated into or excluded from national and global capital systems over time, and understanding the extent to which eurocentricism influenced how our financial infrastructures were built.

Decolonization urges us to reevaluate and understand the biases that have historically shaped financial infrastructures, examining their consequences and implications.

The question is whether we can accelerate inclusion for underserved individuals while maintaining the systems historically designed to exclude them.
