New Power Labs Language Inclusivity Statement

Improving access is core to our mission at New Power Labs. As such, we use a bold voice to drive a shift in power. We are committed to promoting inclusivity for underfunded and overlooked communities across the Canadian social finance, investment and philanthropy ecosystems.  

This commitment begins in how we communicate. New Power Labs is dedicated to using inclusive language as we work to disrupt power structures that disenfranchise communities across Canada. We know that language continuously evolves and our improvement mission acknowledges there is always more to learn. We strive to self-educate and welcome input from our community to strengthen our knowledge. 

One thing to note: in our Insights Library, we adhere to the terminology and language utilized in the source materials referenced. It is our priority to provide an accurate representation of the research, ensuring that the original context and intent are maintained, and where necessary striking a balance between preserving the integrity of research materials while representing a diversity of communities with dignity.

As language is constantly evolving, what is considered inclusive may change over time. Therefore, within our treatment of academic literature or research, we commit to continually examining and aligning our language choices with the evolving standards of inclusivity and respect.
